Y Senedd - The School Council

“Making dreams come true”

Y Senedd is our School Council. It is a group of learners who speak on behalf of their class. At Ysgol Hendrefelin your voice matters. The wellbeing of every learner sits at the heart of what we do.

Learner voice shapes our school. When learners help make decisions, they feel listened to and valued. They build confidence, take ownership and learn skills that last a lifetime. Listening to our learners helps us get things right for them. It is best practice, and it is the right thing to do.

We meet each half term. We talk about what works well and share ideas for what we want to improve.

Y Senedd is made up of six sub-committees. Each one leads on something that matters to our school:

Y Criw Cymraeg promotes the Welsh language and Welsh culture across both sites.

Eco Warriors lead our environmental work and help look after the world around us.

Rights Respecting Ambassadors help everyone understand and respect rights.

Digital Leaders support safe and confident use of technology.

Safeguarding Ambassadors help every learner feel safe and know who to talk to.

Wellbeing Ambassadors promote good wellbeing and look out for their classmates.

Y Senedd gives our learners the chance to lead. They speak up for their classmates, solve problems and make a difference in their community.

School council aims:

  •  Meet regularly so every learner is heard.

  • Give every learner a place to share their concerns, opinions and thoughts.

  • Encourage all learners to suggest ideas and make positive changes.

  • Organise whole-school and class events.

  • Run charity days.

  • Keep our school a happy, safe place for all our learners.
