Theodore Road Classes
Our Key Stage 3 BESN provision, for learners aged 11 to 14, is based in Theodore Road, Port Talbot. We support learners with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Needs.
The provision has three classrooms, a spacious dining hall and a multi-skills room where we enjoy cookery lessons and a range of practical activities, from hands-on science experiments to engaging project work.
For those needing a bit of calm, we have a cosy Cwtch room set up for sensory and therapeutic interventions, such as music therapy and ELSA sessions. It is a lovely spot for anyone who needs some time to reset.
We are fortunate to have a large park nearby for exercise or simply a breath of fresh air.
Promoting wellbeing and offering an engaging curriculum are our top priorities, keeping our learners excited about their education. Learners often move on to our Key Stage 4 provision, based in Velindre.
Theodore Road: Summer Term 2026
It has been a busy and rewarding summer term at Theodore Road. Our KS3 learners explored the enquiry question, "Can one person change the world?", researching people who made a difference and creating fact files on figures such as Nelson Mandela. They celebrated David Attenborough's 100th birthday, explored conservation and linked learning to the World Cup and a rocket launch to the moon.
Enrichment included Big Pit, a residential to West Wales, a visit to Cardiff City Stadium, bushcraft, surfing and Forest School. Zones of Regulation lessons have helped learners grow in confidence, with improved behaviour and progress in reading and speech and language.
Learners were recognised at our annual awards for creativity, numeracy, literacy, attendance, curiosity, problem solving, eco work and sportsmanship.
