Velindre Classes

Croeso

Velindre is a Key Stage 4 provision in Port Talbot that caters for up to 28 pupils in Years 10 and 11. Our centre provides young people with a broad and bespoke academic and vocational curriculum that celebrates each learner’s individual strengths, talents, and achievements.

We operate with small class sizes, supported by dedicated teaching and learning support staff who create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment. Our aim is to encourage pupils to become confident and independent learners who demonstrate respect for others and develop the skills needed to build and maintain positive relationships.

We pride ourselves on the strong partnerships we have with families, schools, further education providers, employers, and external agencies. These collaborative links enable us to promote the wellbeing of all pupils and ensure that they receive the support and guidance needed to achieve their full potential.

Our focus is on preparing pupils for life beyond school through a combination of academic qualifications and vocational learning opportunities. We guide learners through examinations and vocational assessments, helping them to gain the skills, confidence, and qualifications required for their next steps, whether that be further education, training courses, apprenticeships, or employment.

Velindre: Summer Term 2026

It has been a busy and rewarding summer term in the Velindre KS4 BESN provision. Our Year 11 learners prepared for and completed their examinations, working towards GCSEs in English, Maths, Science and History alongside vocational and Entry Pathway courses.

A highlight was our Science and ecology project, with learners visiting the beach to investigate pollution and collect data. Year 10 learners worked with a master's student from Cardiff University to study habitats and ecosystem health through real fieldwork.

We are delighted to celebrate a number of achievements. Several learners are close to completing their CSCS cards, a group have passed their welding course and others have passed their hairdressing course. Year 11 learners worked with the Careers Service and Legacy Team to plan confident next steps.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are very proud of all our learners and wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.
