Deforestation

This term, our learners have been developing and applying a range of skills across Literacy, Languages and Communication, Science, and Digital Technology – culminating in an exciting and creative final outcome.

In Literacy, Languages and Communication lessons, learners have been exploring the features of news reports. They learnt how to structure a report, use formal language, present facts clearly, and engage an audience. Through analysing real examples, they developed an understanding of how news presenters inform viewers about important global and local issues.

At the same time, in Science, learners have been investigating deforestation. They explored what deforestation is, why it happens, and the impact it has on wildlife, ecosystems, and the planet. This learning helped them develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and why it is so important to care for our world.

In Digital Technology lessons, learners were introduced to green screen technology. They learnt how digital tools can be used to enhance presentations and create professional-looking media content. Using this technology allowed learners to bring their news reports to life and present their information in an engaging and realistic way.

By combining all three areas of learning, learners created their own news reports on deforestation, showcasing their communication skills, scientific knowledge, and digital creativity. The final results demonstrate excellent teamwork, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning.

The children are extremely proud of what they have produced, and so are we. Their work reflects not only the skills they have developed this term, but also their growing awareness of global issues and their ability to communicate important messages effectively.
