This term, our class continues to have the incredible opportunity to head to the coast and take part in an unforgettable surfing experience. From the moment we arrived, excitement filled the air as pupils prepared to take on the waves and challenge themselves in a completely new environment.

Surfability specialises in making the ocean accessible to everyone, and their supportive, highly trained instructors ensured that every pupil felt safe, included, and ready to give it a go. With wetsuits on and boards at the ready, it wasn’t long before laughter echoed across the shoreline as students took their first steps into the water.

Learning More Than Just Surfing

While learning to surf was a highlight, the day was about so much more than standing up on a board. Pupils developed a range of valuable life skills, including:

• Confidence – Many students pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones, showing real bravery in trying something new.
• Resilience – Falling off the board was all part of the learning process, and pupils quickly learned the importance of getting back up and trying again.
• Teamwork – Encouraging one another and celebrating each success created a strong sense of community and support.
• Communication – Listening carefully to instructions and working with the Surfability team helped students build important communication skills.

Smiles All Around

It was fantastic to see every pupil engaged, challenged, and most importantly, having fun! Whether catching their first wave or simply enjoying being in the sea, there were smiles all around throughout the day. Staff were incredibly proud of how each student approached the experience with enthusiasm and determination.

A Day to Remember

Experiences like this play a vital role in helping our pupils grow both inside and outside the classroom. We are extremely grateful to Surfability for providing such an inclusive, inspiring, and enjoyable session.
