Croeso i'r Criw Cymraeg: Our Day at the Ystalyfera Conference

Diolch, Criw Cymraeg. You did us proud.
On Wednesday 14 May, our Criw Cymraeg travelled to Ysgol Ystalyfera for a conference with Criwiau from eight other Neath Port Talbot schools.
The pupils shared "Our Welsh Plan", a slide-by-slide tour of how we are working towards our Siarter Iaith Bronze Award.
They talked about our four jobs: See Welsh, Speak Welsh, Play in Welsh and Love Wales. They explained the Welsh walls in every class, our daily Shwmae and Diolch, yard games in Welsh and Dydd Gŵyl Dewi celebrations. They closed by asking everyone in the room to try one Welsh word that day.

The highlight was guest speaker Harry Morgan from S4C's Y Llais. Harry spoke about his own journey with the Welsh language, then sang for the pupils. Meeting Criwiau from St Joseph, Cwm Tawe, Cwm Brombil, Bro Dur, Llangatwg, Cefn Saeson, Ystalyfera and Bag Baglan was a real boost and the pupils loved choosing celebration dates from the Siarter Iaith calendar together.
For attending and presenting, our Criw was presented with a giant cheque to spend on their action plan. The pupils will decide together how the money helps bring more Welsh onto our walls, into our words, our games and our hearts.
A huge diolch to Mr Duford, Mrs Duford, Mrs Grice and Mr Suter for supporting the trip.
