On Monday 7 September, learners from Horizon KS3 travelled to Pontardawe Leisure Centre for the Cerdd NPT Music Peri Roadshow. A full orchestra performed for the audience.

The programme mixed classical pieces with modern music. Learners heard strings, woodwind, brass and percussion playing together in one room, a different experience from music played through a speaker. For many learners, this was their first time hearing a live orchestra.

A leisure centre full of sound and people asks a lot of any young person. Horizon learners listened carefully, stayed with the group and behaved impeccably from start to finish.

Then the music took over. When the orchestra struck up a modern tune, learners got to their feet and danced along with the performers.
