Careers Wales transition event for families: Thursday 8 October 2026

Careers Wales is holding a transition event for parents and carers on Thursday 8 October 2026, from 10am until 12pm. The event takes place at Ysgol Maes Y Coed Special School in Neath.

The morning brings local colleges, day services and support providers together in one room. You will meet the people who run them, see what each offers and ask your questions face to face.

Who will be there

Bspoked/My Life (Neath Abbey)
Shine Employability and Life Skills Centre (Llansamlet)
Polestones Support Ltd (Neath and Skewen)
Brynamwlg Complex Care Needs Service (Port Talbot)
Trem Y Mor Complex Needs Service (Port Talbot)
Neath Port Talbot College
Coleg Sir Gâr
Bridgend College

More organisations are due to attend. Careers Wales advisers will also be there to talk through your child's options with you.

Why come along

Transition planning works best when families have time to think. Meeting providers now gives you a clearer view before your child's next IDP review. You will go into the meeting knowing what is out there and what you want for your child.

Before you go

Write down your questions in advance. Ask each provider about the level of support they offer, how they help learners settle in, what transport is available and whether you and your child are able to visit before making a decision.
