Y Senedd's Well-Being and Rights Respecting School Ambassadors met to share priorities, celebrate successes and plan actions to improve school life for every learner.
Our Y Senedd sub-committees recently met to discuss their priorities for the year and how they can help make a positive difference across the school. As we continue working towards maintaining our Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award, learners considered how they can promote children's rights, learner voice and well-being throughout our school community.
One of the key topics discussed was the importance of improving well-being for everyone in school. Committee members agreed to support Wear Yellow for Mental Health Day on Friday 9th October. This event will help raise awareness of mental health and encourage learners and staff to talk openly about looking after their emotional well-being.
To celebrate the day, learners and staff will enjoy a 'Feel Good Friday'. Everyone is encouraged to wear yellow and take part in activities that promote positive mental health. Teachers will also share learning activities to help learners understand why mental health is important and how we can support ourselves and others.
The day will conclude with an activity afternoon, giving learners the opportunity to participate in a range of enjoyable experiences including walks, a cinema afternoon, karaoke, decorating cakes or biscuits and visits to the park.
The Y Senedd members are excited to lead this initiative and look forward to continuing their work to ensure our school remains a happy, inclusive and rights-respecting place for all learners.
