Horizon Centre KS3: Summer Term 2026

It has been a busy and rewarding summer term in Horizon KS3, with learning linked to the whole-school enquiry question, "Is change always a good thing?". Learners explored the history of coal mining in the South Wales Valleys, brought to life by a visit to Big Pit, and looked at renewable energy, sustainability and biodiversity in science.

They developed literacy, maths, Welsh and digital skills, using Micro:bits to create programmed dice. Enrichment included Forest School, a residential at St Madoc's, surfing at Caswell Bay for Year 9 and sessions at Down to Earth for Year 8.

Staff have seen growing confidence, stronger communication and good progress towards individual IDP outcomes.

Thank you for your continued support this term. We are very proud of all that Horizon KS3 learners have achieved.
