Estyn Inspection

Our March 2024 Estyn inspection recognised Ysgol Hendrefelin as a happy school where learners feel valued and safe. Inspectors described our learners as polite, courteous and proud members of a caring, inclusive community.

Estyn praised the way our leaders promote learner wellbeing at every level, calling it a notable strength of the school. They highlighted our outdoor learning, where learners build literacy and numeracy skills alongside resilience, confidence and teamwork. Inspectors saw strong progress from learners' starting points, and staff who know each learner well and build trusting relationships with them.

The report celebrated our broad, balanced curriculum and the range of academic and vocational accreditations our learners gain, preparing them well for their next steps. It recognised our strong safeguarding culture and the overwhelmingly positive views of our parents and carers.

Our vision, 'learning today for a better tomorrow', guides everything we do. We are proud of these strengths. We do not stand still.

Estyn set us three areas to develop, and we use their advice to keep improving for our learners. We are strengthening how we analyse data and information to shape our priorities. Staff are deepening their understanding of behaviour, so we support learners to regulate their emotions. We are working to improve attendance across our sites.

We track our progress against each area and share it with our governing body. Better outcomes and stronger wellbeing for every learner drive this work.
