The Food Share Scheme has arrived

Our School Food Share Scheme: Supporting Families and Protecting Our Planet
We are proud to announce that our school is now part of a Food Share Scheme, offering weekly food packages to families who would benefit from a little extra support. This initiative helps ensure that good-quality food is not wasted and instead goes directly to the people who can use it most.
Supporting Children’s Rights – UNCRC Link
Our Food Share Scheme links closely to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), particularly:
-
Article 27 – The Right to an Adequate Standard of Living, which states that every child has the right to a life that supports their physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development.
-
Article 3 – Best Interests of the Child, ensuring that decisions and actions always prioritise children’s wellbeing.
By offering these weekly packages, we are helping to ensure that every child in our community has access to nutritious food and the stability they need to thrive.
Reducing Food Waste and Our Carbon Footprint
This scheme also reflects something incredibly important to our learners: protecting the planet. The children have been learning about climate change, sustainability, and the impact of waste. They understand that preventing food from going to landfill helps to:
-
Reduce carbon emissions
-
Lower overall waste
-
Promote responsible use of resources
By redistributing surplus food, our school is taking real, practical steps in response to these global challenges—steps that our pupils are passionate about.
