Sustainable Development Goals

Our children make us so proud!

Our pupils have been exploring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a set of global aims designed to help make the world a better, fairer, and more sustainable place for everyone.

Rather than simply learning about the goals, each class was given one specific SDG to focus on. Through discussion, teamwork, and creative thinking, the children explored what their goal means and why it matters in the world today.

What made this project especially meaningful was how the pupils were encouraged to translate their goal into child speak. Instead of using complex or formal language, they thought carefully about what their SDG meant to them and how they could explain it in a simple, clear, and relatable way.

For example, pupils considered questions like:

  • What does this goal look like in our everyday lives?
  • Why is it important for people and the planet?
  • How can children help make a difference?

Each class then shared their ideas, showing a fantastic range of understanding—from protecting animals and oceans, to making sure everyone is treated fairly, to reducing waste and caring for our environment.

We were incredibly proud to see how thoughtfully the children engaged with such important global issues. By putting these big ideas into their own words, they demonstrated not only their understanding, but also their empathy, creativity, and sense of responsibility.

This project has helped our pupils realise that even though the Sustainable Development Goals are global, small actions—starting right here in our school—can make a big difference. 🌱
