We Are Proud to Achieve Silver Accreditation as a Rights Respecting School

A wonderful achievement

We are delighted to share the fantastic news that our school has been awarded Silver: Rights Aware accreditation by UNICEF UK, as part of the Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) programme.

This is a wonderful achievement and one we are incredibly proud of. It reflects the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm shown by our pupils and staff as we continue to put children’s rights at the heart of everything we do.

What Is the Rights Respecting Schools Award?

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Schools working towards the award embed children’s rights into their daily life, teaching and learning, ensuring that pupils understand not only their rights, but also the importance of respecting the rights of others.

Achieving Silver: Rights Aware status means that children across the school:

  • Have a strong understanding of their rights
  • Can explain how these rights are linked to their daily experiences
  • Show increasing awareness of their responsibilities towards others
  • Feel safe, respected and listened to within the school community

Celebrating Our Children

This achievement belongs first and foremost to our children. They have worked incredibly hard to learn about their rights and to apply them in meaningful ways—through their behaviour, their learning, and the way they support and respect one another.

Our pupils have shown great maturity in understanding that rights come with responsibilities, and they continue to demonstrate kindness, fairness and respect every day. We could not be prouder of the positive attitudes and values they display.

Looking Ahead

Achieving Silver accreditation is an important milestone on our journey as a Rights Respecting School. We are committed to continuing this work and to further embedding children’s rights across our curriculum, policies and school culture as we work towards Gold: Rights Respecting status.

Thank you to our pupils, staff and families for their ongoing support. Together, we are creating a school community where every child feels valued, empowered and heard.
