Embedding Climate Change Education Across Our Curriculum

Learning for Today and Tomorrow
At our school, we are committed to preparing our children for the world they are growing up in. An essential part of this commitment is ensuring that climate change and sustainability are embedded across our curriculum, helping pupils to understand the challenges facing our planet and the role they can play in creating a more sustainable future.
Rather than being taught as a standalone topic, climate change education is woven throughout learning across the school. This approach allows children to explore environmental issues in meaningful, age‑appropriate ways and to make real connections between their learning and the world around them.
Through subjects such as science, geography, humanities and health and wellbeing, our pupils learn about:
- The causes and effects of climate change
- The importance of protecting natural resources
- Sustainable lifestyles and responsible decision‑making
- How individual and collective actions can make a positive difference
We encourage children to ask questions, think critically and develop a sense of responsibility for their environment. By embedding climate learning across the curriculum, we empower pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to become informed, environmentally aware citizens.
Our pupils are encouraged not only to learn about environmental issues, but also to take action where possible—whether that is through class projects, school initiatives, or developing habits that support sustainability. These experiences help children understand that even small actions can contribute to meaningful change.
We are proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and care our children show when learning about the environment. By embedding climate change education across our curriculum, we are taking important steps towards creating a more sustainable, responsible school community.
Together, we are educating for the future—supporting our children to become thoughtful, informed and proactive global citizens.
