Learning in a way that works for each learner

Our curriculum develops each learner's knowledge, skills and experiences. Learners move forward as they learn more, as their understanding deepens, as their communication grows and as their skills improve.

Progress looks different for everyone. Sometimes a learner moves forward quickly. Sometimes they slow down to make sure they understand a topic, or because they have found something that interests them. Learning is not always tied to age. It does not happen in the same way, or at the same time, for every learner.

Assessment

Assessment is part of learning every day. Learners work with their teachers to understand how well they are doing. This helps each learner:

• See where they are in their learning.
• Plan their next steps.
• Spot anything they find tricky, or any extra support they need.

It also helps teachers find ways to challenge each learner, and see how well learners are doing across the school.
